I really enjoyed the book
I really enjoyed the book. It’s different than most of the spiritual books I’ve read. I like his explanation of the ego and importance of experiencing God, instead of remaining trapped in our thoughts. He includes teachings from famous spiritual teachers like Ramana Maharshi, Jesus, Yogananda, and the Buddha. He also talks about some teachers I’ve not heard about like Meher Baba and Mother Meera. The author spends only the first chapter talking about himself. The rest of the time he focuses on the reader and how they can find their own spiritual path. The author uses a simple style of writing but he manages to cover some important subjects. It’s a fairly quickly read. It took me about 3 hours to finish and I read at an average rate. I bet some people could get through it in a few hours. I’ll be going back and rereading some parts.I didn’t know what to expect because the book had yet to receive any reviews. I was searching for something on spirituality and happened to run across it.

A good read!!!
I'm always looking for a good book on spirituality. But they aren't always easy to find. So I was pleasantly surprised when I ran across this one while browsing for something new to read. The author incorporate information from different spiritual teachers. And he explains things in a way that is easy to understand. In one of the chapters, he provides a list of recommended spiritual books and teachers. I have heard of the Dalai Lama and Eckhart Tolle but not the others. I look forward to checking them out, especially Mother Meera.

A really good book to open minds to ideas perhaps not yet encountered.
Even after more than 35 years on the Path I found things I learned anew or re-learned. Highly recommended for any seeker.

Great book
Came upon this book quite by accident but it definitely was meant to be. For me so much was explained in such a way that I understood what I had all along been feeling. Would highly recommend no matter where you are in your journey

I read this on a recommendation from a friend.I think it offers excellent insights for anyone starting on the spiritual journey and for those who have been on such a quest for sometime. It isn't a complete manual per se, I am not sure such a book could be written. It's key feature is in avoiding the typical pitfalls inherent in such a quest -recognizing fakes and quacks by pointing to some real spiritual masters, both living and dead, and giving in simple precise language lessons and insight they share. There probably is no true defense agaisnt the fakers, mimics and the blowhards other than paying keen attention and at some point having an experience of the real. Which I do think this book can aid in acquiring.YMMV, but i found this book to be helpful and have recommened it friends already.

New perspective on spirituality
I feel fortunate to have found this book. The author gave me some things to think about and a new way of looking at spirituality. He covered a lot of subjects and still managed to make it understandable. Perhaps I'll do as he suggested and reread it in the future to see what I missed the first time. Good relatively short read. I recommend it for anyone.

I was on vacation with a friend, picked up her kindle and found “Into the Formless”. I was just planning to kill some time, because books like this are typically so complex and I lose interest or fall asleep. The book intrigued because it did not just take the teachings of one ascended master, but harmoniously integrated the wisdom of various ancient texts and made it readable and enjoyable. This was accomplished by using modern day language, simplifying concepts and preserving the importance of what these spiritual leaders wanted to convey. Anyone on a spiritual path seeking to understand better the meaning of these early insights which have guided millions to fulfill their goal for a deeper understanding of life would benefit from this book.

Accessible, powerful.
I'm a Christian pastor and found that this book offered ways for me to understand God that I'd not encountered before. The author made ancient Eastern ways of thinking accessible to me. I'd tried reading other texts and simply got lost, but Stephens writes clearly and in a way that helped me understand. As I read this book, I often found myself having discernible experiences of God. One of my favorite and impactful reads of the year! I highly recommend it.

True insight to all seekers!
I really liked the way Brian explained the mistic and unexplainable in a easy layman's term. It could save many years searching out of numerous sources-good or bad on line or off line for a true seeker. And provides a blue print for self realization. One area seems to be lacking is detailed step by step guide for spiritual development, I.e. specific techniques of meditation for self realization etc.
