A fantastic product.....
For the first time in over 40 years I am able to open and close my garage door in the morning when the sun is shinning. The sun shinning on my sensor interrupted the safety beam. I would give this product 6 stars if it were possible.....

What should have made it better, made it worse.
I have a southern facing garage door, so at certain times of the year, I have problems with the door closing both in the morning and the afternoon as the sun bears down directly on the sensors. I thought this would do the trick, but it has worsened. Now anytime of the day when the sun hits either one from any angle, I believe the heat is distorting the beam inside the plastic tube so much so, that my doors don't even try to close. I'll be removing them.

Gadgets are available for this task
I had a problem with my garage door closing, because the Sun was was shining on the garage sensor eye. I ordered the Sun shield, instructions were easy to install, great price. It fixed my problem. It works great.

These work great!
Replaced Liftmaster paper covers that deteriorated. These are longer and work well on my south facing garage doors. Even at the worst sun angle of the day, the opener closes every time. Super happy with this purchase!

Didn’t work for me.
These were not very easy to install, and they only helped prevent sun blockage on one side of my garage. The left side still suffers and prevents me from closing it most of the time. Annoying. Would not buy again.

We had an issue with the sun hitting our safety sensors - morning on one side and evening on the other side. Our garage door would not close unless we were able to block the sun from the sensor. We bought these sun shields and install them over our sensors. They were easy to install - took only minutes. They were a perfect to our Sears belt driven 1/2 hp garage door opener. Note that the sensor guard have to be more carefully lined up with each other as the beam have to travel in a more narrower path. When the guard was bumped once, the alignment was off and the door did not open.

I originally purchased the LiftMaster (041B0873) Safety Sensor Sunblocker Kit. Wound up being an expense piece of folded corrugated plastic and I saw no improvement midday when the sun is most likely to cause issues. This kit was easier to install and the sunblocker is approximately twice as long. I haven't had an issue since the installation.
