Simple and effective!
My wife had an situation that unfortunately devolved into a "he said/she said" situation. She was a bit distressed about it for several reasons that I won't go into here. But I said that next time she thought she might be in a similar situation that she should just discreetly activate her voice recording app on her phone and flip it over so that the screen wouldn't give away the fact that she was recording. She asked me how, and I said to simply open her voice recording app and tap "record", to which I got the reply "I can't find it". I was like "Seriously?". Long story short her Android phone didn't have one, and neither did mine. I'm pretty sure there USED to be one, but how long ago I couldn't really say for sure. Sure, you could use the video recording app, but that just creates all sorts of other issues and problems. I thought there had to be a simpler solution.Well, shopping on Amazon I came across this gem. I can see how the other commentators would compare this to the old MP3 players. In fact it comes with 2 sample MP3's. LOL.Setup was simple and intuitive. I can also see why others became irritated or confused as the actual screen isn't touchscreen, it's the section underneath the screen that's "touchscreen". But once I understood that it was easy to maneuver around the various menus and settings. In under 2 minutes I was recording, adding files, playing them back, and so on.I connected it to my computer with the included USB cord and my computer immediately recognized it and treated it like a USB drive. I added some songs to it just to have something on there that I could play. Easy, peasy, lemon squeezy. As a test I started recording as my wife walked in the door from a hard day at work and I started trying to serenade her. Which is especially comical when you realize that as I sing, and sound, like an injured duck. LOL. But after I was done I pulled this handy device out and told her that she could now listen to my serenade whenever she feels blue and misses me at work. Well, the laughing fit that ensued should've been recorded as that was arguably better than my singing. This is so much better than an app and much more discrete. Besides, most apps I found were fairly intrusive, wanting access to my phone calls, pictures, and other things. I was very leery of the potential abuses of these permissions, combined with the fact that many of them were not very highly rated. Which made this device all the more attractive.I can't address the phone call recording aspect of the device as I didn't purchase it for that purpose and so didn't investigate that aspect. If you want/need a standalone voice or music recorder, or simply an old style MP3 player, look no further than this little gizmo here, you won't be disappointed.A+++++

Does the trick, with some interesting caveats
This product acts as a pretty decent recorder, but like many of these devices strays from the main goal by including a lot of extra features instead of focusing on just being a good recorder.First the good: it does act as a recorder and offers many different options for doing so. The battery lasts a good long time, and it has a switch for going immediately into voice recording mode. There are a lot of features, although the limited control scheme makes them difficult to use.Now a bit of criticism: Recordings are made in the wav (wave) format so they are large for even small recordings. Files are difficult to delete, and playback of recordings seems to loop with no option to turn repeat off (only options to make the recording repeat differently). A personal recorder normally needs to be discreet, so this is a pretty bad design decision as it will immediately and repeatedly playback a recording you make at maximum volume (until you change that).Likes- Looks slick- USB-C charging- Record switch- Readable manual- Background noise removal optionsImprovements- Record switch doesn't work when the unit is "off" as the manual states, only in "standby"- Recordings are in wav format instead of a compressed format limiting duration, storage, and increasing time to pull them from the device- No option to disable "repeat" mode- Difficult controlsOverall this got a 3/5 because of the many usability difficulties, which is a shame. I think this device is a good example of "agile development" and "MVP"; being so focused on throwing a ton of features in that none of them get polished. I can't say I recommend it simply because in the same space and cost point there are far better options with superior usability.

This Call May Be Recorded for Quality Assurance
Man, I needed this a few years ago. I got this because I thought it would better than the voice recorder that I occasionally use. And boy is it! I seem to have all kinds of bad luck with some phone reps and I've never been able to a) have them provide their recording or b) produce a respectable quality recording myself. I sometimes use my voice recorder and my cell's speakerphone. But this device conveniently transfers the call from your cell to the recorder; and you use that instead. Great because both parties have equal volume and clarity. It was simple to set up and use. And it's great for anyone who may forget details in a conversation. Would definitely recommend for anyone who even occasionally needs to record a call.
