Very accurate
This Gloss Meter comes with a test report from a professional testing agency, which tests and records its measurement performance and error values in detail. I simply used it a few times and the results seemed reliable. It is very rare to buy such a professional meter whose performance is completely transparent to the user.

Cool way to measure gloss.
This thing is really cool. It had never occurred to me that you could measure a level of gloss, although of course there are units and definitions for everything. It makes a lot of sense in some ways, as you want gloss or matte for certain applications. And once I got started measuring gloss, I kept finding other things I wanted to test, and it got me thinking about why a product had gloss or lack thereof. The instructions are pretty bad, but you can more or less figure it out. And that's really the only reason I took away a star. Also, I can't seem to get it to stay off while charging, which irks me, but it also says it does an insane amount of readings before needing another charge (I almost think it said 300,000, but don't quote me on that), so I guess I won't have to charge it often. It has a base that it calibrates itself to before every use, and the base also protects the meter. Neat stuff.

Taking detailing to the next level
This gloss meter allows the detailer to quantify the amount of improvement made through paint correction stages. It also helps a detailer determine the quickest pad/polish combination to get the best results in the shortest amount of time.

Identify paint imperfections that arent visible in certain lighting
This gloss meter works great. I used it for testing how even my spray pattern was when I painted my guitar. I like that you can plot the difference between the surface and minimize the difference. It really improves the way you will paint, you find out where you miss every time. It also makes me feel better about selling a finished product if i check it with the meter just to be sure someone wont see any imperfections. It doesnt come with a case but the sensor has a cover. Its very easy to use, almost doesn't need instructions, just the few combos that you need to know to be able to do everything. But if you dont read instructions, its pretty simple and easy to figure out. Im pretty impressed with it. I use it along with my paint thickness meter. That way you can insure professional results as long as it looks good before you test it. It wont get rid of orange peel for you, but vut it comes up as a different gloss rating, so you can identify spots that need to be fixed.

It's very basic, but does do as advertised
The screen is older technology, very basic. It does give you a reflectiveness rating in percentage. I'd recommend this for someone doing paint correction or detailing, paint. As far as what it give you for information compared to cost it's nothing your eye couldn't tell you in all practicality.

Put a number on your finish!
Whether you're detailing cars, laying down paint, or even finishing furniture... This helps you put an actual number on your finish. For paint restoration or polishing, doing a before and after reading lets you show customers that there was a measurable improvement. Or, if you're laying things down you can check part to part to make sure you're hitting within a certain percentage. I've got a bit of an oddball use of this... I'll be testing different finishing schedules on some pens I make. Rather than just saying "this one looks better" I can put a number to it and be a bit more scientific. Great way to nail down a finishing schedule and see if you can skip grits, etc without sacrificing the final product. Instructions are pretty straight forward... There's not much to the basic use of this one. Calibration is built into the cover for the sensor, don't skip that step... but... before you try that, you'll need to make sure you peel the thin plastic protection off the sensor. (Yea.. I forgot to do that...)

Excellent hardware but minimalistic instructions.
This is a high quality optical tool that will be very useful to those trying to match paints with samples, especially indoors. Combining this tool with an RGB or CMYK measurement tool covers all bases. While the tool is impressive, the instructions and minimalistic and much trial and error is required to get the full use of this tool. I was also not impressed with the repeatability of readings.
