Intel Optane Memory 16GB PCIe M.2

Useful for a laptop with HDD as it makes the boot and other basic operations faster. However. I recommend going for 32gb variant as only 13 GB is available on this one and majority features such as application pinning is only allowed on the 32GB variant. I myself wish to replace this for the 32GB.

Well it does work! I'm getting SSD like speed on my PC.

Currently selling as a HDD accelerator and cache but if you were to wait for another year at most, you'd find yourself looking at SSD speeds for slightly expensive HDD prices

Wait for minimum 1 year. don't buy it just now. theres a lot to come, with more gigs and low price tags. The future is here but it needs lil time to develop itself more

Excelente produto qualidade Intel. Não consegui configurar tive de levar em uma assistência! Mas ficou melhor , mais rápido apesar de que já tenho SSD INSTALADO. RECOMENDO.

Intel Optane made my PC lightning fast. I have Windows 10 (64 bit) installed on an SSHD hybrid drive. Because the hybrid drives are faster than ordinary hard drives I didn't expect much improvement with Optane. However, I am truly surprised at how fast Windows 10 now boots, it's almost instant. Also other startup programs now load at boot time almost instantly too. Only down side was that I had a dual boot system with Ubuntu on a second hard drive. After installing Optane, Ubuntu disappeared. To be fair Intel do warn about adverse side effects of installing Optane on a dual boot system. Apart from the dual boot OS factor, Optane is a real performance boost for the whole system, and a lot cheaper than buying an SSD. It's easy to install the Optane card too. Intel have anOptane card video install how-to on their site, which I found the easiest to follow (much easier than wading through the pdf written install how-to). Just make sure your PC meets all the minimum requirements for Optane (also listed on Intel's site), and follow the instructions to the letter. Remember to backup any data on any additional OS you have installed (in a dual boot system) before installing Optane.

Cette mémoire intel optane intermédiaire joue bien son rôle. Mon PC démarre comme si j'avais un SSD (13 secondes) avec un HDD Thoshiba 1To !!! pour pas chère.Toutes mes applications démarre en 1 ou 2 secondes quand avant il fallait 5 à 10 secondes !! En plus, il y a très peu de manipulation à faire pour rendre fonctionnelle cette mémoire. Rien à dire, elle fait très bien son boulot. Pour info, je possède un optiplex 3050 avec 8go de ram, et cette mémoire a double effet me permet en plus de me passer d'une 2ème barrette de ram super chère...donc économie effectué avec cette achat : ~80€ (ram) + ~150€(ssd nvme) - 50€(optane) = ~180€ !!!

I added one of these to my home NAS running TrueNAS (formerly FreeNAS) as the ZFS ZIL SLOG write cache disk. The three features you want for this purpose are: fast random write, high endurance, and power loss protection - Optane has all three. The SLOG disk only needs to be big enough to store 5 seconds of incoming data, so 16GB is enough for a 10Gbit network (assuming your main disk array can keep up). You don't need a special Intel CPU, it's just a NVMe disk. Works perfectly in my old AMD Opteron server with a PCIe-M.2 adapter in a PCIe slot.
