At the press of the remote the battery is disconnected, worked great and then it would disconnect when I parked without me doing it, then I got back to my car yesterday the unit was off and would not come back on so couldn’t start my car. Great if you have parasitic drain

This rather nifty device could be used on any number of 12 volt vehicles, smaller petrol engine cars, motorcycles, quads, watercraft or even lawncare machinery. We are going to fit this on a 250cc,1960 vintage scooter that is equipped with a starter motor. On this particular machine the batteries (two 6 volt wired in series) are tucked away under the seat, because the seat is held to the frame with two 1/4" screws it makes removing it a PITA to get to the manual battery isolator that we currently have fitted. The amperage draw of the starter motor on the scooter is way below the 200 amp rating of the GEARLEADER isolator so it will be working well within its limits! In our review pictures there is a short video where we have set the isolator up in a "Heath Robinson" fashion to show it working as once it's fitted to the scooter working parts would be obscured and you wouldn't get the full picture. In our little test the remote isolator performed faultlessly and genuinely impressed us. The build quality is excellent although it would have been nice to have a factory fitted inline fuse on the live feed, this is the only small issue we have with this product and will be adding one when installing it. This is a genuinely good product, it provides security and safety and is very well priced at £19.99 in the GEARLEADER Store here on Amazon. Review of GEARLEADER Remote Battery Disconnect Switch 12V 200A Anti-Theft Switch. I have used manual battery disconnectors before for various reasons so when this remote unit became available the temptation to order quite thought provoking. The unit complete package has all required to fit directly to the negative terminal of a 12v battery, a 40mm cube relay, battery round pole clamp, two copper connector bars, copper cable crimp terminal and two remote transmitters included. The cube relay contains the remote receiver and 200amp relay connections, two short positive and negative leads attached by spade connectors are used to power the receiver and relay, these should actually be a fused connection but non supplied. We are told the battery connections have a burst load of 350amps capacity presumably for starter motor use with a modest 200amp constant load connection, this should be adequate for light vehicles but diesel vehicles will often draw more than 350amp when starting so I personally would not recommended this kit for their use. In fact with modern vehicles connecting and disconnecting the battery can be detrimental to vehicle electronics so as for my use this restricted to small or auxiliary batteries such as used on quad bikes, campers, caravans and outboard engines on boats, the 200amp loading should be more than adequate for those purposes together with the smaller starter loads. The two remote controls have batteries installed, unfortunately the type of batteries required to operate not mentioned and the screws to remove the case minuscule so at present cannot say type of replacement required, fitting of the relay quite straightforward, most parts bolt together, the two small power leads require a constant battery connection, negative to battery clamp and positive via a fused connection to a constant live feed. Two remote switches have on/off controls to operate the pulse relay, this to connect or dis-connect the load from the battery preventing even small power drains when not required, this also means the battery can be mains charged without removal. The kit works as advertised, the instructions brief, unit easy to fit for those so inclined, however contradictions exist in the advertising, description 350A, pictorials 450A, plus it does state the relay will drain the battery if left for more than 10 days, a switch or second relay would be required to stop this.
