Like pandan leaves
This pandan leaf powder is the next best thing to those long and slender pandan leaves, which are only found in the frozen aisle in Asian supermarkets.Pandan is commonly used in South East Asian dishes, especially desserts for its fragrance and coloring.I looked up recipes using pandan and made a simple Chinese steamed cake dessert. The smell and taste are exactly like using pandan leaves, grassy and sweet. The only difference is the color. I was expecting a vibrant green but adding more powder to the batter didn't make much of a difference. The color stayed a pale green. While it may seem a little pricey for a small 1.8oz container, it is well worth the price. It is so easy to use, store and has a long shelf life.

Doesn't work
Very faint color. I used almost the whole jar for buttercream icing and it was never darkening or giving me a true green color. Had to go buy something else.

Not great for coloring buttercream frosting
This is my first time using food coloring powder--I've only ever used liquids or gels before--and I had to use significantly more of it than I expected. I wanted to test it out as soon as it arrived, so I made a small batch of buttercream frosting. For less than one cup of frosting, I used about two tablespoons of this powder. I started off with one teaspoon and could barely see it, so I added more until I got to the point where, even though the color was still pale, the taste of the pandan leaf was very noticeable. It has a matcha-like flavor, which I'm not opposed to, but it's not what I'm going for with buttercream frosting! Also, the color was so pale (I'd call it a light sage green) even after adding a lot of powder that I felt like it's not worth the price for how much I'd have to use. That said, I was really impressed by how well it blended into the frosting--it mixed up very easily and distributed throughout. I'd like to try it in other recipes--I do like that it's multifunctional for a variety of recipes and seems to be good quality--but I won't use it for buttercream frosting again!

plant based green dye
I love that their in a natural food dye. I used a little more than others in my frosting. I left no taste when making a lighter green.

Absolutely Useless – False Advertising and Zero Results
I purchased Nutricolor Green Pandan Leaf Food Coloring expecting the "brilliant green" promised on the packaging. What I got was a complete failure. I added this to milk—exactly as pictured and implied on the label—and it did nothing. Not a hint of green. Not even a tint. Just a waste of time and money.Nutricolor, if your product requires special handling, say so. There were no instructions, no dilution guidelines, no suggested usage amounts—just a tiny bottle full of empty promises.Either your product is defective, or your advertising is misleading. Either way, this was a complete letdown. Save your money and look elsewhere for food coloring that actually does something.

Takes A Lot To Color & Does Change The Flavor
I am always on the lookout for new and unique ways to change up baking. I prefer natural food coloring so have been experimenting with a number of ways to color baked goods without needing the more traditional liquids or gels. I was excited to try the Nutricost Green Coloring, but found it lacking for my purposes. One experiment was making mint hard candies, so green seemed a good match. With a liquid coloring, I would only need a few drops for the entire batch, but I used WAY more of the powder and still only got a green-ish tinge. On top of that, the flavor of the candy was changed and while not a horrible taste, I am not used to coloring changing the flavor or what I cook or bake. I also tried using this with a frosting and again needed a sizable amount of powder and the flavor changed as well. I like the idea of a plant based coloring, but didn't find this a good match for my purposes.

Nature’s Green Glow-Up – My First Taste of Nutricost Pandan Magic!
I just tried the Nutricost Green Plant Based Food Coloring from Pandan Leaf Powder, and I’m honestly impressed! As someone who loves experimenting in the kitchen but tries to keep things natural, this felt like the perfect find. The vibrant green hue it adds is gorgeous—way more lively and authentic than those artificial food dyes I usually avoid.I used it in a smoothie and a homemade cake, and the flavor was subtle, with just a hint of that fresh, slightly sweet pandan essence. It didn’t overpower the recipes, which I loved. Plus, knowing it’s plant-based and derived straight from pandan leaves made me feel good about using it regularly.I’m just getting started with this, but it’s already a fun and healthy way to brighten up my food and drinks. Definitely excited to see what other recipes I can add this natural pop of color to!

Savory Flavor- Not Good for Desserts
I bake often, so I was excited to try this product. I have never liked using artificial coloring, so I was happy to find something with natural ingredients. It is not a saturated color. I used several tablespoons with one cup of powdered sugar, some milk, and butter. This is a fine powder that mixed easily without any lumps. Perhaps I should have whipped the butter to bring its color to white before adding the coloring. I have also heard of coloring icing with one drop of purple coloring to bring the color to white before adding additional food coloring, but I did not try this. The color ended up being a muted-vintage green color that is more yellow than green. The color is shown in the photo. I was expecting a neutral taste; however, this has a strong savory flavor that I could not bring myself to put on the cupcakes I was making for children. I have not tried the coloring in any savory dishes, so I do not know if other people would enjoy the flavor. I will probably make play-dough and use the coloring for it since I will not be adding this to any desserts.
