My roof fan I have bought for my van conversion comes with a foam ring which goes between the fan and van roof, should I use this or not?

You could use it I suppose as it came with your fan and then use sika as a sealant around the edge and over the screws. I didn't have anything with my fan so I used white caravan mastic strip and then sika round the edge and over the screws, totally solid, I hope that helps.

do i have to remove previous sealants and how do you remove excess ?
