It is stitched around the perimeter. If you cut it, it wouldn't look as clean. I don't know if it would separate.

Is this pad supportive for comfortable letter writing?

yes, firm so to write on, but great for a mouse pad

My pad. it is sliding and slipping and not adhering whatsoever to my desk. constantly having to adjust it. what can i do?

I used GORILLA GRIP no-slip pad that stopped the sliding. A customer should not have to do this, however, it is what it is.
