Q: Is this compatible with ipod nano?

It works with my ipod touch. It works with any bluethooth capable device. I can use it with my Amazon tablet too. I don't see why it would not work with the nano.

No. It comes with a short cable for charging. If you want a longer cable, you will need a male USB type A to male mini-USB type A. The one provided has an angled mini-USB type A connector so that you can stand the speaker upright while charging it.

Q: My charging door will not open. does anyone have any tips??

Since the speaker is waterproof, the charging door has a very tight seal. A tight grip and a good pull should pop it open, when you close it make sure it is pushed all the way in.
