Bright and trust worthy light that did not dent my pocket.
This light is very bright. I bought two of them and they both have a slightly different hue of light, one is a little whiter (warmer tone) while the other is a little cooler (like a bmw light color). I bought these since I did not want to make a huge initial investment on headlights for my bicycles. Me and my wife were so impressed with the output of these lights that we really tried to buy better ones at local bicycle shops. No one could show us a brighter light for less the 189.99 in stores. One bicycle shop owner asked me how much I paid for this light while comparing this and other lights in his store he realized many lights he was demo-ing for us were just not as bright when we told him how much we had paid he looked like he had swallowed his own poop, he really could not believe a low price light to have drowned out his expensive lights which he has always stood behind. He then asked us how long we had them to which we replied over 3 months with over 40hrs night riding time. He wanted to see the source of these lights so I opened up my amazon account and showed him how to obtain this light. he logged out of my account and logged into his and bought 36 of these lights all at once.So exactly how much light can one expect from this unit? There are other compact lights out there that do not require an external battery pack but this is great feature considering the long run time of the pack and you can carry more then one pack if necessary. I found that on the high setting we could use it for about 4.5 hours before the light started to get significantly dim. The low setting gave us a good output for almost 8hrs (7hrs 50mins) before it started to drop low. These lights maintain good light until the battery gets low then the light will drop of fast. meaning there is not much of a curve with these batteries. I find this useful since I do not want an ever dimming light and would rather have some constant light. The button is illuminated green when its plugged to the battery and doesn't not do any significant drain. We had the light on the coffee table with the button shining for 2 weeks straight and the light was still bright as the day we charged it.The out put is actually amazing, it lights up stop signs and reflectors up to 1/4 mile away, on roads it really looks like a mini HID when compared to older cars with yellow head lights. It can illuminate road reflectors on the ground while also hitting overhead route signs at the same time when its in a slightly center position. on roads with no street lighting it can really light up a lot in front of you and makes you feel very safe in the dark. When I ride with my wife, meaning two headlight being used we have more then enough light for both to ride on low settings. A friend of ours saw us approach his house one evening and decided to use our light on his 125cc scooter and found this light worked better then his stock head light, he also bought one for his scooter from this same listing.Since this I not a flasher we have paired it with a PDW flasher taillight on our handle bar and we are now a serious light show in motion and do not have to worry about our visibility of road hazards our visibility of others who need to see us. Even when paired with a PDW flasher this is so much cheaper of a setup and so much brighter then anything we found locally for hundreds more.

Cant get close to it for the money...Period.
So, I thought I would write a review as all the information here is conflicting. I purchased this light out of curiosity more than need. My wife rides a Magicshine (what was recognized as probably the best value on the market) so I was curious how this would compare at more than half price, as this is almost a copy of a Magicshine. I am an avid single-track rider and, when the time changes, that leaves me riding off-road in the dark 3 times a week. I am pretty knowledgeable about lighting systems and LED's in general. There are two classes of bike lights:1. Lights that are designed for safety and minimal vision enhancement. These usually take non chargeable AA or AAA batteries and are self contained. They are what you would find on the shelf at a sporting goods store or Wal-Mart. On a road bike, this is usually sufficient for deterring getting run over. They are usually less than $20.2. Lights that enhance vision. They are several hundred to a couple of thousand lumens and will make you see spots if you look into them. They use a battery pack and is usually recharged every ride or two. Some street riders use them but they are most commonly used for riding night rides by mountain bikers in the woods. Historically these lights have started at $100 dollars on up to whatever you want to pay. This light I am reviewing falls in this category and I purchased due to my curiosity of just what a $50 attempt would look like. Here are my observations....Pros:1. Price! There is nothing I have seen that is even close to the value proposition here.2. Build Quality. Anodized aluminum with silicone seals.3. Output is bright4. CREE LED...best company in the business5. Light emitted is not too blue.6. Cool glow in the dark halo created by the glass seals. OK so this is not really a pro but it is just cool.Cons:(Let me preference these are a non-issue at this price)1. Light produces a spot light not a flood type pattern. It is very bright in the middle. I have ordered a diffuser to try and even it out. We will see. If that fixes it, 5 bucks well spent.2. Battery is cheaply assembled (I would not charge unsupervised) Take it to work and charge it while you are next to it. It is 4 cells heat shrined together with paper ends. After the debacle with batteries catching fire, I always take precautions. I have not disassembled it so this is just judging a book by the cover but better to be safe than sorry.3. The light is really white. More natural would be sort of yellow. This is what I would call a Magicshine copy....so lets compare.1. Is it as good as a Magicshine? No2. Is it half the price of a Magicshine? More than half price.3. Is a Magicshine twice as good? No it is only marginally better.Usually you get what you pay for but I would say this is far better than what you pay for. I am unable to talk about the quality of the cells of the battery as it is relatively new....but batteries are replaceable and perishable. I have also ordered the diffuser for this to alleviate the bright spot. We will see how it works. For the cost......I can't find any weaknesses that I can justify griping about. If the cons listed are a deal breaker for you, then move on and pony up some additional coin. If you are looking for a "Real" light at a great price, this is it.
