ESSENTIAL, absolutely ESSENTIAL
Every single review who said they help tremendously in apartment use were true. I don't know about those who say your neighbors won't hear anything at all, but they will help A LOT. I have a Shockwafe 9.2.4 and with those 2 10 in woofers this system pounds. Loud. It would literally make the wall shake to a point where my landlord told me if there's one more complaint I will have to move out. Since then I would never go above 1 on my bass settings. 1!! Now I finally got my Shockwafe bacl where it belongs. It can finally breathe. I still can't even come close to half of what it can handle but believe me the bass has been up to 3 all day volume 34 and no problems. I'll try going up to 4 soon, carefully of course. I haven't even talked about the actual bass itself. Those reviews are true as well. The bas does sound better. It sounds cleaner. Like it has better resolution. Best way I can explain it. It's like listening to Spotify then you get hifi headphones get a subscription to tidal and listen to a track in HiRes audio for the first time. It's still the same song you've heard a thousand times, but it's like you're hearing it for the first time. That's how these subdudes make my subs sound. I've used them for years but it's like I'm hearing them for the first time. Enjoy everyone

A simple product but a sonic revelation
I use 2 subs and suffer from quirky room characteristics that cause placement issues / considerable room gain. Because of the former, I'm somewhat restricted in where the subs can be located. Looking for solutions to these issues, I came across this Auralex products and thought it's definitely worth a try given it wasn't a huge investment and the isolation platform looks inconspicuous compared to room treatments which look unsightly. The product is well finished and barely visible at all once installed. I'm sure you want to know about the sonic impact, so i'll talk a little bit about that. All i can say is this simple product makes a huge amount of difference to the bass produced. I re-ran audyssey XT32 calibration and the results for the two subs had completely changed. There was now very little level difference between them and the distances had reduced, to almost exactly what they measure (audyssey added 25% to measurements to account for room and phase issues) The low end - 22hz and below - is much tighter and cleaner, and has now stopped rattling the walls whilst still retaining that low-end room pressurising bass. The mid-range bass - 25-40hz - is warmer and richer. Overall the sound is more articulate and less flappy, with a smoother crossover / roll-off towards the 60hz point (where i cross my fronts) In summary, this product is fantastic, Remember that the frequencies where a sub operates (below 120hz) is at the mercy of the room characteristics, so room correction becomes crucial. Audyssey helps, but it can't work miracles so If you are struggling to place your sub / subs and/or have limited options, give Auralex a try.

Works! Definitely not snake oil
Works! Had a noise complaint from my next door neighbor in my high-rise condo about bass sounds and eventually bought this. With some additional fine tuning of the subwoofer settings (lowering the Hz, slightly raising volume) and placing my sub on this, my neighbor said he doesn't hear anything at all and I still get great punch from my movies, music and games. Sound actually does sound cleaner probably because it eliminates all the tiny vibrations from all the things that surround it like the TV stand, walls, etc. Worth every penny if you live in a small townhouse or condo to prevent the lower frequencies transferring to your neighbors.

Dampens the subwoofer, but can still clearly hear/feel the bass
My downstairs neighbor constantly complained about my watching movies because the sound would travel through the floor into her unit. I'm very conscious about not disturbing others, so I had always set my movies to a low volume. Even others in another room in my home could not hear the sound. I even set my subwoofer to its lowest setting. But still, the loud frequencies are hard to block and travelled through the floor to disturb my neighbor. Enter the Auralex AmpDude. It's thick foam and unobstructive design looked great. I immediately set my subwoofer on top of this thing and tested it out. The bass was definitely dampened. However, realistically speaking, it was not a magic solution. The bass would still travel through and rock the floors if the bass was turned up enough (and not even very high). Go into this with realistic expectations. It helps decently, but it won't eliminate all the sounds from travelling through floors and walls. Overall, I'd still buy it again, but it's not the best value for the money. I still use it today years later.

I purchased the Subdude as my last "hail Mary" before potentially being forced to replace my subwoofer with a higher-end sealed sub. I was experiencing ongoing bothersome bass issues with one of my home theatre setups. Hardwood floors with a Paradigm front firing, rear-ported sub, in the front corner of the room, resulting in boomy, uncontrolled bass. It was like this ugly wall of loose, muddy bass was consuming the whole front wall where my TV is, then reflecting to my seating position. Due to the room configuration, I do not have other options for placement of the sub. I started looking into room treatment options but there was no way I was going to install ugly wall mounted bass traps in a main floor family room, opposite a kitchen. I was wondering if the sub was transferring too much energy to the floor, which was then moving to the walls, causing additional resonance, generating additional sound waves, resulting in the terrible sound. I didn't have these issues when the sub was in my basement. I read hundreds of postings in different AV forums and countless reviews about the Subdude and how it will 'tighten up' bass, etc. I was thinking there's no way it can tighten up the bass but if it could potentially reduce vibrations, maybe there could be some value. Some 'haters' on the forums will say the subdude is useless and people's perception of the sound is strictly psychological. After reading a review from a professional publication, where they noted they always use an Aurelex Subdude when reviewing subwoofers, I decided to take a the plunge and gamble almost $90 on this product because I had nothing more to lose... it couldn't possibly make the sub sound worse. I installed the Subdude, actually upped the volume on my sub by 1 notch, then re-ran Audyssey room correction on my receiver, so the gain would be at -4. SVS recommends adjusting gain on the subwoofer so post calibration, it's set between -4 to -8, so I took their advice for my Paradigm sub. After manually adjusting speaker crossover settings in my receiver, I was ready to test. The sound quality difference was drastic. That ugly "wall" of bass I referred to earlier is completely gone. I am finally enjoying my sub in this room. The bass is now much cleaner and is not longer an annoying distraction. The bedroom above the sub also has less bass transfer via the walls but loud low frequency soundwaves will still easily penetrate through the floorboards. Although it may be cheaper to go to the hardware store, get a piece of wood, put some foam under it and built it yourself, I'm not sure you would get the same results, as this is firm acoustic foam and not something your furniture would be shipped in. Not all rooms are the equal. You'll have different furniture, flooring material and objects that affect sound reflection and absorption, so your results may be different but this Subdude solved my issue and saved me from potentially dropping $1000+ buying a new sub and I may have ended up with the exact same issues. I was hoping the Subdude would give a marginal improvement in sound. I was shocked how much difference it made in my situation. I'm now considering buying another Subdude for a different subwoofer. No regrets.

Perfect floor isolation for my sub...now the bass is very decent and correct...not overwhelming and the room does not vibrate with.

Dröhnen vom Bass ist weg, macht also das was es soll. Etwas zu teuer für ein wenig Schaumstoff, aber optisch ansprechender als meine selbstgebastelte Lösung. Von mir fünf Sterne.
