The method Johnwwillis describes is best. Drill the hole, feed wire through the hole, then insert into the wire vise, snug the vise up to the post, and tighten the wire. Here's a youtube video I found. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p390qV_6CQ0

Why does the price jump so drastically for a larger quantity? Why not buy (2) 10 packs for $47.80 instead of the 20 pack for $106.57?

Do they only work with 12.5 gauge wire?

No. 12.5 anchor vices only work with 12.5 wire. We sell a 15,16 gauge anchor vice and a 8,9,10 anchor vice that work on those respective wires

do these work on monofilament line?

I think it would cut into the line creating a possible break.
