I was hesitant to try this on my skin because I was originally using Live Clean's products until my dermatologist told me to begin using something unscented and with less likelihood to cause my skin condition to flare up. I have an autoimmune disorder, lichen planus, in addition to general sensitivities, and eczema. Yes. I have been going for phototherapy to help ease the significant patches of lichen planus that I have. The phototherapy however, dries my skin out completely. So, I needed something that would help me in the middle of a skin flare up (ie: not many chemicals as with other products), AND something that would still moisturize my skin well because of the UV exposure from the phototherapy. I tried other Cetaphil products and so far, the only one that helps with all of these, AND serves my other skin issues well is this product. I use this in combination with Lyderm, for the patches that are genuinely intolerable. This product probably won't be for everyone. It's also taken me 2 weeks of use to feel a difference. It won't work overnight if you have really sensitive skin. If you have super dry skin, that may be another story altogether. It is a tad greasy when you first put it on, but it's designed to be really moisturizing. If I put this on before bed it's not as bad because I'm sleeping most of the night. I use the lighter products from the Cetaphil line during the day because of this, though. I will say however, that when I bring Cetaphil to phototherapy treatments, the burns are not nearly as bad and the dry, itchy skin that usually follows treatments are lessened. I looked at CeraVe products and chose this one because of the price and the fact that Cetaphil was easier to find in Shopper's Drug Mart, and Walmart. Cetaphil, based on my research, seemed like the budget-friendly answer to CeraVe which has certainly rung true for me. Shipping, logistics, and availability during the pandemic also made me fond of this product because I read a lot of reviews that CeraVe was a popular "panic buy" item. When you need reliable access to a product because of health, rather than expensive tastes, that was a major concern for me. Hence, Cetaphil being my choice. I changed my skincare routine to include this product, and I use the daily facial moisturizer, the bars of soap, the ultra gentle cleanser for my face, and the scrub once a week to slough off the dead dry skin from my treatments. During the day I use the daily moisturizer or the tub of lotion, depending on what I'm doing, whether I will be outside at any point, and whether I'm wearing really breathable clothing. For those looking for something specific to use alongside this in the case of lichen planus, I would also recommend Free and Clear Shampoo and Conditioner! I probably sound like a walking advert, which I somewhat dislike. However, I used to use Live Clean and Lush products almost exclusively, until these issues flared up and I needed something formulated for them. I was so frustrated trying to find something that worked. I had no idea what on earth to do when my lichen planus and eczema got so bad that it covered 1/2 of my body. Nothing worked but this has definitely started to help. It hasn't fixed it because skin conditions are just that: ongoing conditions. However, this product has made them manageable. When you consider that the side effects of my conditions included itchy, dry skin that would be inflamed, painful, cracked, and after phototherapy occasionally turn into blood blisters, manageable is actually a big deal. Hopefully this saves someone some time and money!

This is the only product that has worked for my eczema and my 3month old baby's severe eczema. This doesnt say for baby but I tried this after using childs farm "baby" moisturiser. Childsfarm has made his eczema even worse (see photo #1) the 2nd and 3rd photos are day3 of using this Cetaphil. His eczema was weeping. I apply this to his skin as soon as I notice that his skin has gone dry again and especially if his skin began peeling. Just persevere! I find that its normal that the site gets red on application. But oh boy i noticed its efficacy since day1 especially on day2. Just apply it as many times as you want. Expensive but Highly recommended!

As an eczema sufferer, I am very optimistic about this new formulation. I'm cautious to give a full endorsement because I've only been using it for a week, but I'm impressed with what I see so far . When applied, it feels like a simple moisturizer but it lasts like a heavy duty thick skin therapy-- comparable to petroleum jelly, or a tub of Eucerin skin repair. I can only tell it was on my skin when I take a shower at night or the next day and I can feel the protective layer it created. There's absolutely nothing else like this. IMPORTANT: Like any lotion used for eczema treatment, you want to apply this within 3 minutes of getting out of the shower. This is important for creating a protective barrier and locking in moisture. A number of people have complained that this burns their skin or their child's skin. I suspect they applied this directly to an area where the eczema was flaring up. I did this once with restoraderm to part of my neck that was flaring up and yes, it will sting-- similar to any lotion that is not a simple variation on petroleum jelly or something very hypoallergenic. This is not what this lotion is for. First, get the inflamed site under control with your doctor's recommended steroidcream. After this skin heals up, you use lotion to maintain the protective layer that many eczema sufferers lack. This is what Restoraderm specializes in. This ceramide therapy is cutting edge. Many people with eczema suffer from a deficiency in Filaggrin, a protein that helps maintain the protective layer on the surface of the skin. (I can't insert a web URL here but look up Filaggrin on wikipedia) Ceramides act as a signaling molecule to stimulate production of more Filaggrin. (Look up ceramides on wikipedia) This stuff is basically medicine. I'm glad I don't need a prescription. Of course, the only downside is the high cost, but this might come down over time. And it's a small price to pay compared to the thousands of dollars I've dropped on dermatologists who have no idea what's going on.

I have been using this lotion along with the body wash on my baby boy since he was an infant. He is now 18 months old, and we still use it daily. My baby had eczema on his face and some on his body in the early months. I tried other moisturizers: Eucerin, Aquaphor which is totally greasy and made it worse, and Aveeno Baby Eczema Cream. The Restoraderm body wash and lotion were recommended by my pediatric dermatologist. We use both daily. The lotion is very rich and moisturizing without being too greasy. It works well with the body wash. The body wash is gentle with low foam and little smell. Since I use both the wash and the lotion, I cannot say definitively that this lotion eliminated my son's eczema alone. I would not say it is a 'cure' for eczema, but it definitely improves the condition of the skin for faster healing. I do recommend using both in tandem. It seems that my son's skin began to look healthier over time and today he rarely has any eczema outbreaks. His skin is nice and smooth now, especially on his cheeks. I am so glad we found this solution for us because I did not want to use steroidal creams on a daily basis. The prescription cream that we used sparingly and rarely was desonide. This lotion and body wash really made a difference and prevented us from having to rely solely on a steroid cream. The lotion and wash are sometimes hard to find in stores, and are very expensive when you do find them. If you use it on a regular basis and don't have time to run around town searching for them, I recommend Amazon's subscribe and save feature. Amazon's price is the lowest I have found. If you are in a pinch, the Aveeno Baby Eczema Cream is a good alternative, but is a tad lighter although I do like the Aveeno on the face. As another reviewer noted, please test this product and any other product on your baby before slathering it all over to ensure there is no allergic reaction to the product. There is always the potential for the rare occurrence of an allergic reaction. I hope that this product works for the vast majority of babies/people. It definitely works for us!
