Beneficial
I have a bunion that was getting progressively worse but after hearing several negative reports about the corrective surgery and lengthy recovery, I made a decision not to go through that procedure. Even my podiatrist didn't recommend it unless extreme pain was an issue. I have used the rubber toe separator inserts for months and while they do help, they don't make a noticeable difference in the alignment of the toe. I have used the bunion splint for about a month now, and I can say my big toe is straighter and there has been improvement in the condition. This device has not " cured" my bunion but it has definitely arrested the condition. Sleeping with this on my foot every night has made a difference, and stopped it from getting more pronounced. I see it as a good option for anyone not wanting to deal with a difficult surgery. My only negative and 4 star rating is due to the extreme cost of this little device. It is mighty expensive for what it is. However, I am happy with the result and will continue to use it faithfully.

Works great! So glad they made this.
I had a dislocated and fractured big toe, and buddy-taping just wasn't doing it for me -- it was uncomfortable, sweaty, and I didn't feel it immobilized or protected my toe well enough considering all the pain I was in. Was shocked when my orthopedist recommended fashioning a homemade splint from popsicle sticks, ace wrapping, and wearing a orthopedic shoe. Where's the modern technology people?!Needless to say I was thrilled to find this splint. Great design, great-looking, and totally comfortable to wear directly against the skin, even for 10+ hours at a time while walking around (once feeling up to it). When my orthopedist finally saw it he said, "Wow, what a great splint!" and asked where I got it. I told him I was surprised he didn't recommend something like this in the first place...The only reason this isn't 5 stars is that after wearing it inside my sock + street shoes for 3 weeks straight (including on vacation with several miles of walking) the adhesive holding the rubber to the hard plastic wore out, and the rubber would end up slightly displaced after a full day of wear. There was some sticky adhesive on my foot for a couple days until it wore off, but it was never uncomfortable. Just required a little adjustment if you don't fit it snugly in the morning, and I'm still using it nearly 5 weeks later. One other note - since only the brace on the side is stiff, it won't provide full immobilization of the toe joints even if it's configured not to move. I.e. you can still flex a tiny bit even if the brace is taught because the material that attaches the brace to the foot is soft. But it definitely provides great support once you're back on your feet, and I'd definitely recommend and buy again if I've got another toe injury in the future.

I'm so grateful that I found this company.
This splint is a lifesaver for me. During the past month I had to give up running--something that I've enjoyed during the past 20 years. But then I found this bunion splint!I can now resume my daily running routine (3 + miles). Before discovering this product, I had tried toe separators, but due to the severity of my bunion, they didn't work. When I put this splint on for the first time, I instantly felt relief; the recurring pain in my ankle, a consequence of my bunion, disappeared immediately. The splint fits nicely in my running sneakers. Its hinge feature allows mobility of the big toe. For me this is a great PLUS for those who engage in running and in other activities that involve quick foot movement.I do resort to wearing underneath the splint a silicon bunion shield and a big toe sheath so as to prevent friction between the splint and skin. For me they prevent the possibility of painful chafing. Its price tag isn't cheap, but for me it's a minor investment considering that I can now recoup my active lifestyle without having to resort to surgery.

Must buy for relief while not in a shoe
Great product. I had foot surgery and the doctor put me in a pos brace. I went back to him snd told me it would take 3 weeks to order something else. I tried his brace snd it tore my foot up so bad I had to take medication to kill the infection. I went on Amazon and loved this brace. Pricey for what It is but 6 months later I still put it on while watching tv for some relief. Very happy

Inadequate
Ridiculously overpriced for what it does (I paid $85.83) . It doesn't provide any real support. Painful to walk in. I had to use it along with my other splint before my toe would be properly immobilized and safe to walk on. The hard bit is only along the outside. I also wasn't able to use their tool to 'dial' in the firmness. Luckily it comes pre-set at the firmest setting. The other splint is this (same company) Bauerfeind® ValguLoc® Hallux Valgus Splint. For reference, I had a tiny fracture on the second (inner) joint of my left toe, left of the joint. Actual joint space is intact. Overall, not a bad injury at all and so was a bit disappointed that this wasn't enough on its own

therefore this item is useless to my purpose
The adjustment dial adjusts the upward and backward motion of the big toe. My bunion is at the bottom and outward side of my toe (as commonly situated). therefore this item is useless to my purpose. I have the receipt but not the box so could not return. The instructions and diagram are very hard to understand and I took the trust in the instructions & company so threw away the box (lesson learned) & it took me a while to realize it is not working.
