Could you accomplish the same thing with a plastic clipboard? That's what it looks like and I have a ton of those hanging around...for free...

The issue for me was the "clip" of the clipboard. If you can drill out the rivets and take it off, a clipboard will work fine. I found this shirt folding board very handy. If you have a shop that sells Plexiglas, you might have them cut you a piece the right size, but it might cost as much.
