Worked for about a month
I have three different Hearing Amplifiers that I bought from Amazon. So I can compare some of the features for you.First of all this is an excellent device and well worth the money. If you have normal age related hearing loss as most people over fifty do, do these actions in this order. Get your hearing checked. If you have normal hearing loss and no other medical condition. Buy this Hearing Amp or a Zyon or a One-Stop. Do not see an audiologist or buy a prescription Hearing Aid. You can always do that later.Get one of these three inexpensive over the counter Hearing Amplifiers and try it out. Maybe it will meet all your needs. If not there are other options. Why this strange advice? A Hearing Aid costs about $3,000 - some much more. These Hearing Amplifiers cost about $120 each. The One- Stop is about half that. All three are new on the market/ All three are RIC models. This is the latest technology. This I think is the first such model from Britzgo which heretofore sold the older technology air tube models. RIC is inherently better than air tube. When I had prescription hearing Aids ten years ago they were RIC abd cost more than $2,000.Britzgo is a big well known manufacturer. Zyon is a new company with excellent service and I've never heard of One-Stop before. But all three are pretty good and better than anything comparably priced just a year ago. Last year Amazon had New-Ear Hearing Amps on sale for only $40. These were RIC instruments but the receiver was too big. It hurt my ears. This year these RIC receivers are slim enough for me. This model has some unique features. I am testing it against the other two brands and will report back. So far it works well. Five stars.UPDATE: Stopped working about early November. I bought this one to replace the Zyon HA which had stopped working. The Zyon people sent me another one but that one soon stopped working. I have yet another battery driven model (One Stop) that I am using. The Zyon and Britzgo I have given up on.

Britzgo BHA-1704 - First Impressions
I am in my mid-60s and have moderate hearing loss. That is, I have substantial loss but only in the higher frequencies. I rarely notice I have any problem until I engage in conversation and then the problem of comprehension can become embarrassing. About five years ago I bought my first hearing aids (HAs) at a national big box store. The HAs were the store's house brand, although they are of German manufacture. While cheaper than many other comparable HAs out there, the pair still cost, as I recall, about $1500. I perspire heavily and after about a year these HAs failed due to damage from sweat. The retailer replaced them under warranty, and while the HAs are now no longer under warranty, the retailer has offered to replace them again at less than full retail price. That is still more than just lunch money, and to prolong the HAs operating life I stopped regularly wearing them. I missed having hearing amplification full time though, and once out of the habit of wearing them, I would often forget to put them in for events where I needed better hearing. I started looking at Personal Sound Amplifier Products (PSAP) to use as utilitarian, every day appliances while saving my better HAs for special (and drier) occasions. The Britzgo 1704s look like they will serve very well in this purpose.A few observations - The 1704 is not listed on the company's website. I called Britzgo and a rep confirmed that these are indeed Britzgo products offered at this time only through Amazon. Their size is 34.7mm x 15mm x 10 mm, about a third longer than my expensive hearing aids. The Britzgo are also a little heavier, 4 grams vs. 3 grams. The rechargeable batteries are not user accessible and I wonder if they can be economically replaced when they reach the point they no longer can hold a charge. The charger cable plugs directly into the device and I had some difficulty in getting a good, secure contact. That causes me some worry about the longevity of small, delicate parts inside the device. The noise canceling advertised for the 1704 is not obvious in operation.I compared ear-to-ear the performance of my expensive hearing aids against the Britzgos. This is not scientific, just done by swapping out the devices in my ear while listening to music or while having my wife repeatedly read the same passage. The expensive hearing aids give a fuller, more natural sound. The Britzgos were very good however, and it was only by direct comparison that I could detect a slight flattening of the sound they produce. I had hoped that the noise canceling of the Britzgos would function like the noise canceling headphones I wear when flying to block ambient sound, but the function in the Britzgos was too subtle to notice with wind and road noise in the car. What I like about my expensive hearing aids - Programmed to compensate for my particular hearing loss. Four separate programs for different environments. Better sound. Lighter and smaller. Easily replaced rechargeable battery Open domed ear plugs. On the other hand, they're expensive and delicate - a bad combination for me.What I like about the Britzgo 1704 - Small enough to still be comfortable behind my ears. Easy to use on/off and volume switches. Good sound quality up to a point. Distortion kicks in at a certain volume level. Easy to recharge. Cheap enough to use everyday without worrying too much about damage/loss. Suggested improvements - better instructions on recharging to get the maximum life out of the batteries. Open domed ear plugs instead of the supplied closed ear plugs that completely seal off the ear canal. So far, I am very happy with my purchase of the Britzgo 1704s. I would have no hesitation to rely solely on them if they were the only device available to me for improving my hearing. For me though, they will be great back ups for my expensive hearing aids and for prolonging their service life.

Feedback cancellation doesn't work
I have not had a good experience with this product. When I set to a setting so it is barely helping, and then go one notch up, it starts giving loud feedback. But the next lower setting barely helps. When I tried to send a message to the maker through Amazon, I got a message their e-mail system was kaput.

Worked 2 months - died
worked for a few (2) months. No longer works. Does not amplify sound. Possibly battery no longer charges ? Cost effective. But hate to have to re-buy every two months

Is the echo a permanent feature with this kind of hearing amplifier?
My mom bought the Bha- 203 for each ear and they have a horrible echo! We can't get anyone to help us with them. Does anyone know how to fix this problem? We would surely appreciate any info.

earplug too big, not noise canceling.
I just got these and need them for this weekend. So not too sure how they work yet. I do know however that the earplugs are so big they hurt my ears! I hope I can get used to them because I really need some help with my hearing. Now I have used them and the description says "noise canceling".They are NOT. The volume control on one is either too loud or I can't hear people talking to me. When turned up the background noise also gets very loud.
