Unbeatable mics on a budget!!
These are a very very nice wireless mic combo. I have a live sound company and use some really high end wireless on my systems so I have compared these to those systems for this review. These handheld mics are metal, surprise number 1! The rack mount units are also metal. 1/2 wave antennas are quite nice. now for the sound quality comparison...the handheld is just like my58's. The sound quality overall is very nice! The system says 60 meters but no dropouts at 80 meters. Wireless connection is very stable and reliable. I don't know how this quality comes at this price point but do not miss out if you need high quality low cost microphones for your band or DJ set-up. I was so impressed I made a rack with 6 handhelds and 2 headsets and they work beautifully for the venues and all types of vocal ranges! The battery life is right on par with high end brands at about 8 hours. The clarity of the mics when gain is set on the rack mount unit and console is 58 all the way.

If you're looking for some high quality mics for a great price, these are them!
These mics are amazing! They are clear, easy to set up and sound great! I'm going to pick up some more because they are better than our sienhizer mics! We use them for our praise and worship and they are awesome!

PTU-71 Product Review
Upon receipt of the microphones, I unboxed them and found them to be made of metal construction, not cheap plastic that would fall apart in your hands. The reciever is constructed from metal as well, and is sturdy enough to stand up to the rigors of road use. I have the PTU-5000 wireless microphone set and have certainly not been disappointed in the performance of those microphones, reliable and rugged are the words that I would use to describe it. This is the first of a two part review that I'll be writing. The first part of the review is the initial Pros and Cons of the unit as I have not had an opportunity to use the system live as of yet.Pros:All metal construction and ease of setup are essential if your going to be on the road with this system, and this is where the product really excels. If your going to use a rack drawer to store the system when not in use, I recommend using the foam that in inside the packaging as all of the parts have thier place and there is no need to custom make the foam in the drawer.Comfort: If your a vocalist that does not play an instrument, the michrophon is comfortable to hold, not too big around so as to make your hands start to cramp at the end of the night.Customer Service: This above all else exceeds ones expactations!! Email response is very fast and Phynex stands behind the quality of their products and is quite efficient in making right any defect or flaw that may arise while using thier products.Price: Don't let the price of this system fool you, it is well worth the investment. Where else are going to find great customer service, a great system, and one that is rugged enough to stand up to the rigors of road work for this price? I dare you to do better! I did a lot of research, as I normally do, when searching for replacement gear or anything that I use for performing as that is how I make my living. I haven't found another system in the price range that accomplishes what the PTU-71 does.Cons:This may or may not be a con, depending on how to use the system. The system is not rackmountable as it has no ears to mount it. There is however a work around. It can be mounted on a Raxxess shelf that has the slots in the bottom to accomodate zip ties. The way I would recommend mounting it is by using velcro on the shelf and on the reciever, then placing two zip ties going across the front, then two on the sides. This way the reciever is not suseptable to movement or damage. At this time, there are no other cons that I can see or foresee. This is only the inital part of the reveiw and once I am able to use the system, I'll continue the review from there.I used these at a show last night and they performed every bit as well as the PTU-5000 set that I have. The only other thing that may be considered a con is the placement of the on/off button. If your a vocalist that holds the mic, it's possible that the mic could be cut off accidentally. If you use mic stands like we do, it's not a concern at all. If all you need it two mics, this is absolutely the way to go. I noticed very little differences in comparison to the PTU-5000.Another pro about this unit is the ease of set up. It took all of 3 minutes to set it up and have it operational, You couldn't ask for an easier set up and tear down of a unit than that. I opted to mount mine in a rack so it's very easy transportOverall, I would say that this system is just as good if not better than the higher dollar systems. I definitely recommend this system to anyone that is looking for high quality and performance at an extremely affordable price. Keep up the great work Phenyx!!

Great budget option for light use
For the price, It is hard to beat the PTU-71. I've been using this system for nearly three years without a single issue. The MicrophonesThe mics are clad in metal, so they have a good hand feel, but I think it is only a thin sheet around a plastic structure. The mics have survived several drops without anything breaking. While they would not hold up to the rigors of a touring band, they are more than good enough for meetings, church, weddings, etc. They sound decent and are easy to operate. Batteries are freshly recharged before each use, so I can't comment on battery life. I've never had one die on me, though. The ReceiverThe receiver is a small metal (I like that) box with a plastic front panel. It's light weight, but it doesn't feel cheap. The mic level knobs have detents to prevent accidental level adjustments. The display is clear, bright, and easy to read. There are only a few buttons on the unit which are laid out logically. Changing frequency and syncing the mics is straightforward. The removable antennas are a nice touch. A main selling point for me was the dual XLR outputs. There is a TRS output for combined output, but I've never used it other than to make sure it works.OverallFor the price this system is hard to beat. I've never had interference issues that weren't solved by a quick freq change, and the mics hold up to the occasional "oops" (at least, they have for me). I've not checked the max range, with most of my use being no more than 50 feet between Tx and Rx.
