RED STAR Fresh Yeast, 2 OZ

Bought it because I always used to use fresh yeast many many many years ago. I used the fresh yeast to make bread and it turned out great! So delicious. Way tastier than with dry yeast. However I will not buy again because fresh yeast is so expensive.Seller did a great job packing the yeast and shipment was fast.

My last brick (2 oz) went bad before I could use it. I do wish that the seller had gotten this to me sooner, but, I was okay with that as it was a good month before the expiration date. I had to make a lot of pizza dough, freezing it, as fresh yeast does not last that long. Maybe package this is 2 - 2oz bricks?

Arrived 2 wks before expiratory date. Fresh yeast only lives about 2 wks refrigerated, but can be frozen. Bread tastes better than using the dried yeast. I noticed a difference in taste and in proofing. Search internet for instructions on how to replace dried or instant with fresh yeast. I wrapped and froze the rest for future use. I also did have occasion to use the frozen yeast-just thaw before putting in your recipe.

I bake bread and pizza regularly and this fresh yeast makes a big difference as far as the flavor concerned. I am big fan of baking bread from scratch since bread and water is the life for us. I also buy vital gluten to add to the dough to make is more stretchy. I am hoping Amazon brings more sellers to lower the price for this product. Otherwise I am happy with product. I gave 4 stars since it is too expensive!

(I haven't used this product yet but I'm sure it works really well and ad expected, like the red star yeast that I have previously used!)I just wanted to write a review on how happy I was about how quickly the delivered! Because it had to be refrigerated, it came in through express mail, which I was not expecting! Glad to have gotten it so soon!

I’ve ordered this from Whole Foods several times and love the yeast. The problem is that on the last two deliveries I have received yeast that is expired or about to expire. Check the dates when you receive your delivery.

I had not used fresh yeast before this, and I have baked with yeast for decades. What a huge difference! It rises better than dry yeast and yields amazing texture with far less kneeling. I thought the bread even tasted better. I will buy this again and again.
