Soap Laundry Bar, 14.11-Ounce, 25 Pack, Unscented

I love this soap for my son's baseball pants. It got out all the clay dirt and most of the stains. My only challenge is the rubber black stains from turf, but at least it lightens them.

My daughter gave a bar of Zote soap to use on my white clothes to remove stains and I was simply amazed how clean and easy it was using Zote. My grand son plays baseball and we use it take off grass and dirt stains from his uniform. You just have to rub some on and scrub very little to remove any types of stain. We're not able to purchase this product in Hawaii but luckily I found it on Amazon.com. I ordered the product and received it about 10 days later. tThe shipping was quite a bit coming to Hawaii, but worth every cent. I am very pleased with the service.

After testing this soap for 6 months, I've decided to get a case! I do both washboard and machine wash with this soap. I prefer the slight floral scent of this to the somewhat "mechanic" odor to the Felsnaptha or Octagon. The scent is extremely mild after laundering, barely noticeable. I like the pink color because I can see the bar if it slips under the water in the tub. I use a glass washboard with this and get very good results on my hubby's white tube sox bottoms when he "forgets" to wear his slippers. The suds are fine bubbles and they rinse away very well. I make a laundry soap for my machine with washing soda and melted Zote shavings in water. Takes about 20 minutes to make, let sit overnight, presto, a semi-gel for machinine soap that melts quicker than just the shavings would. I've made my own soap from fat and lye, and this is much nicer, easier, non-"burny", and at a case price, less expensive per bar. One bar lasts me over a month, and I wash everything with it. 2/3 bar in the machine soap solution, 1/3 to use on washboard. I got one of those "breather" type wash plungers too, and get an easy upper arm workout but the Zote works through the garments, doesn't oversuds-you can see the dirt dissolve. I recommend it.

Contrary to some reviewers, I like the citronella smell of the soap. I think it is a nice clean smell. I bought the soap to make homemade laundry soap and went with the dry recipe and sized it back so I didn't have so much on hand. Cabinet space is limited for me. I have been using it and like the way it cleans. Once the laundry is dry, the citronella smell is hardly even noticeable, if at all. When I was grating the soap up, I left a small section ungrated which I keep for rubbing directly into really dirty laundry spots after spritzing with water. It works pretty good that way.

I love this soap. I use it for everything-you can use it as a hand soap, bath soap, shampoo (it is a bit drying!), laundry soap. And it lasts forever. While your typical bar of soap lasts for a week, maybe 2, just using it in the shower, these bars last for months. For that reason I buy zote in bulk to include in my long term storage. I hope it never comes in handy, but if it ever did, it would be a blessing to have it. And yes, shaving it into your washing machine cleans clothes nicely as well.

I ordered a case of this to make my homemade laundry soap. Others suggested that I try this one because of the color and mild scent. So far so good. A good replacement for felsnaphta for the color and scent or use half of each. I made a big batch and it turned out just as nice as the other brands. My clothes have come out clean. I will purchase this product again.
