Q: Are these good to use for a high school football team?

I believe it should be. We use it for church and it can be pretty load and we are able to communicate with each other well. It is a great device I only wish they had single ones to add to the others we have.

Q: does this works through radio frequency?

Sorry for the delayed response. We use these at a public TV station in a mesh of RF frequencies that cover a very wide range, as well as various IP wireless networks. We have not encountered any RFi issues thus far. We've used them quite often for about a year.

Q: This will work out of the box or it needs a hub or something?

You do not need a hub when purchasing this system. All headsets should connect automatically out of the box. Thank you for your question.
