Can this thing measure the weight of luggage and non-human objects?

Can you use this on carpet? If not, do you know a scale you can. My whole house is carpeted and I don't want to weigh myself in the driveway.

All you have to do is cut a piece of plywood the size of the scale and place the scale on it. If you want a classier look, just but a few ceramic tiles at a home center and lay them on the carpet where you want the scale. Put the scale on the tiles, and problem solved. Otherwise, just put the scale in your shower or tub and weigh yourself there. Scales won't be accurate unless they are on a hard surface.

what type of batteries does this use?

Mine came with 2 cheap AAA Heavy Duty (aka, leaky style) batteries. I immediately replaced them with 2 Alkalines. I love this scale so far. Will post a review in a few months.

It is glass and mine broke after it fell off the side of my garden tub! Should not have put it there. Made a huge mess. But ordering another and will be much more careful
