So far works out of the box without needing to install or update drivers.

I should firstly say the card looks new and legit and it was detected no problem. However when I installed TrueNAS and attempted to create a pool of 5 drives it seemed as if two of the drives were faulty. One always blames the drives first because maybe they were damaged in transit. But I was wrong. Through a process of elimination (swapping around cables between drives and ports on the card) I was able to establish conclusively that of the 8 breakout ports the cards supports, 3 are not operating properly. Unfortunately for me, it took a while before I was able to get all the components and build this system so it appears I am just outside the Amazon return/replacement window. While I do currently only need 5 working ports, it makes me uneasy that there may be some other issues and my data is worth more than the card. I'll probably be looking at other options for replacement.Update: Amazon sent me a replacement card that is working without any issues. The supplier was also prepared to do a replacement, which I appreciate. So all good here. :-)

Out of the box this worked with Truenas SCALE.The 6 new drives I added came right up, no issue at all.No need to flash or anything. Literally plug and play.Bought this with 2 SFF-8643 to SATA connectors, and plugged those into my WD red pros. The SFF-8643 to SATA plugged right into the two slots available, and that extended me out to 8 total drives.

Just got this in and it worked right away. Plug and play on a Z790 MB running Windows Server 2022 with an i9-13900K.

Good choice for low-end internal storage, like home NAS with gigabit connections. For file systems like ZFS you don't need HW RAID, HBA is a best option. In addition, I would recommend NVMe PCIe SSD as a file system cache (ZIL/L2ARC in case of ZFS, or LVM dm-cache).Works well if you need to connect 4-8 HDDs. Usually, sustained data transfer rate for modern consumer hard drives (SATA3, 7200 RPM) is about 250 MB/sec, so with PCIe 2.0 speed 250-500 MB/s per lane, this controller is able to work effectively with up to 8 HDD or 3 SSD with 6GB/s SAS/SATA interface (SSDs have transfer rate ~550 MB/s, so x4 PCIe 2.0 bus would be bottleneck for even 4 SSDs).PCI 2.0 x4 bus is a bottleneck for this controller, which blocks from using it in more serious tasks, rather than low-end home NAS.The only disadvantage with this seller is missing cables. LSI 9211-8i for that price usually comes with cables. Good SFF8087->4xSATA cables may cost you additional $30.Right now I hasn't been able to test device, waiting for cables to arrive... Will update later.

Works great for my Unraid box — plugged it in and worked right away — but is almost three times as expensive as other options.

This card was nothing but trouble on a modern Asrock B450 motherboard and UNRAID. It would work fine with spinning HDDs, but anytime I connected any SDD it would disable. I updated the BIOS and tried many combinations of HDD, SDD brands, cables, and ports wasting valuable time.I ended up returning and buying a used LSI card from the Ebay store "The Art of Server" for half the price. The latter came with the right firmware and worked with mixed HDD/SDDs no problem.

I installed it on my system to connect an SFF-8644 JBODI no longer have a CD-ROM, so the provided optical disk was useless. I had to find seller website 10tek to be able to download drivers. The installation process was fairly standard, but not straightforward.Please provide clear URL where to download drivers. CD-ROM is just obsolete!

Works out of the box with Proxmox. All I need. A bit pricy though.

Un adaptador de SATA (como lo estoy usando yo) en modo HBA es un adaptador normal, nada del otro mundo, la velocidad de disco dependerá de ellos, él no va hacer mucha cosa, el caché solo vas a usar en modo RAID, que no lo he usado pero según he visto los resultados no es nada mal, pero si lo tuyo es hacer RAID para SSD no lo cogería, la velocidad IOPs no es bastante limitante, no mas de 150k, al alto para un RAID HDD pero bajo para SSD como los de Samsung (90K por unidad). En términos de temperatura con carrentorras algo que no entiendo en modo HBA pero mira es lo que hay, pero con un ventilador de 40mm le sobra para contener la temperatura.

Ich bin sehr zufrieden mit diesem RAID Controller. Ich habe viele schlaflose Nächte damit verbracht einen günstigen und guten RAID Controller für mein ESXI 6.5 Projekt zu bekommen. Der Controller ist auf einem Flammneuen ASUS B450 Pro Mainboard im zweiten Grafikkarten Slot verbaut. Er wurde sofort erkannt. Der Rechner bootet und nach dem BIOS Boot Prompt erscheint das LSI Boot Prompt des RAID Controllers dort kann man dann mit ctrl + C auf das Bios des Controllers zugreifen (wirklich easy!). An den Controller angeschlossene Platten werden direkt erkannt. Im Hypervisor Setup werden keinerlei Fehler ausgegeben, der RAID Controller wird tadellos sofort erkannt ohne irgendwelche Treiber rein zu laden. Funktioniert klasse und bin ich heil froh, keine hunderte Euros ausgeben zu müssen.

Erstes Problem:Wollte eigentlich nach dem Upgrade auf Win11 wieder ein HW-RAID5 aufbauen und habe dazu hier bei Amazon nach RAID5 Controller gesucht, da kam diese Karte als Ergebnis, also gekauft und eingebaut. -> Nein, sie kann KEIN RAID5, nur 0,1,10, die brauche ich nicht also schon die erste Endtäuschung.Zweites Problem:Es liegt eine CD mit (vermutlich) den Treibern und Firmware (?) bei, ABER, die CD hat lauter Dateien mit Erstellungsdatum 2016 !!! Da gabs zwar schon ein Win10, aber das hat es nicht bis auf die CD geschafft. Irgendwie habe ich dann in den Untiefen des Internets eine "fast" aktuelle "MegaRAID Storage" SW gefunden, die unter Win10 mit dem Controller kommunizieren kann. In das Bootmenü bin ich leider nicht gekommen, da springt mein neuestes ASUS-MB beim Hochfahren einfach drüber, vermutlich wird die Karte nicht erkannt oder ist inkompatibel. So nützt sie mir nichts ...Allerdings gestaltet sich hier bei Amazon die Suche nach AKTUELLEN RAID5 Controllern äußerst schwierig, es kommen zwar sehr viele im Suchergebnis, aber schaut man dann im Internet etwas genauer nach diesen Typ-Informationen, dann haben die alle ein Produktionsdatum älter als 2018 und mit Win10 oder gar Win11 als kompatible SW ist schnell Schluss, weil einfach nicht angegeben.

1) Adpater: Nach kurzer Betriebszeit hat der Adapter sein BIOS nicht mehr laden können, hat das auch brav gemeldet:"Unable to load Avago Technologies MPT BIOSMPT BIOS Fault 05h encountered at Adapter"Kaputt ist kaputt.Der zweite Adapter erzeugt zufällige bitfehler die dann so aussehen als wären die angeschlossenen Festplatten defekt; vermeintliche Block-Lesefehler (jedesmal andere Blöcke). Die Festplatten selbst bestehen an anderen Controllern jeden test fehlerfrei.IO-hängt regelmäßig bei konkurrierenden Zugriffen für mehr als 120sec.
